I have just read an artical in the Daily Mirror's, Kellys Eye page and I thought it might be of interest
to everyone who uses a PC, for business or pleasure. It appears that the US Department of Justice
has taken the initiative in trying to persuade people that downloading MP3's and hacking are
the same as good old fashioned stealing and vandalism and should be discouraged.
So here are the Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics from the campaign's homepage,
details of which can be found at,

This is Not made up!.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF COMPUTING

1. Thou shalt not use a computer
to harm other people.
2. Thou shalt not interfere with other
people's computer work.
3. Thou shalt not snoop around in
other people's computer files.
4. Thou shalt not use a computer to steal.
5. Thou shalt not use a computer to bear false witness.
6. Thou shalt not copy or use proprietary
software for which you have not paid.
7. Thou shalt not use other people's computer
resources without authorisation compensation.
8. Thou shalt not appropriate other people's
intellectual output.
9. Thou shalt think about the social consequences
of the programme your writing or the system
you are designing.
10. Thou shalt always use a computer in ways
that ensure consideration and respect for
your fellow humans.

COMPUTORS HAVE THEY GOT A SEXUAL GENDRE ?

A french language teacher and her students were discussing which sex a computor should be classed as,
masculine or feminine. As non of them could agree she decided for the fun of it to split the class into two
groups, boys and girls, and instructed them to come up with an answer stating which sex they thought
a computor should be and give four good reasons why.

The Boys thought they were Feminine

The Girls Thought they were Masculine
1.No one but their creator understands their
internal logic.

2.The language they use to communicate with
other computors is incomprehensible to
everyone else.

3.Even the smallest mistakes are stored in
long term memory, for possible later retrieval
and use.

4.As soon as you make a commitment to one,
you find yourself spending half your salary on
accessories for it.

1.In order to do anything with them you have
to turn them on.

2.They have a lot of data but still can't think
for themselves.

3.They are supposed to help you solve
problems but half the time they are the
problem.

4.As soon as you commit to one, you realise
that if you had waited a little longer you could
have gotten a better model.

It was agreed that the girls had Won the argument and computers should be classed as ' Masculine.'
